Planting and care

Plant in well-drained, slightly acidic soil, in a spot sheltered from drying winds. Choose a spot in full sun for better golden colour in the foliage. Space plants at least 2.5 m apart for good air circulation.

Regular watering is essential for the first two years. Keep the soil moist without waterlogging. During long droughts, water deeply. No pruning is needed; let the natural pyramidal shape develop. Mulch the base lightly to hold in soil moisture.
