Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in a sunny spot. The hackberry adapts to most soils, even poor or limy ones. Avoid heavily shaded areas, which reduce the plant's vigour. Make sure drainage is adequate at planting.

Water regularly the first year after planting to encourage rooting. Once established, this cultivar will tolerate drought and difficult conditions well. No major pruning is needed; clean out dead or crossing branches as needed.
