Planting and care

Plant in rich, well-drained, slightly humus-rich soil, in part shade or in sun that isn't scorching. Minimum spacing is 45 cm. Enrich the soil with organic matter at planting and press down lightly to ensure good root contact.

Water regularly the first season to build a deep root system. After that, it tolerates short droughts. Mulch the base with compost or dead leaves to keep it moist and protect the roots. Cut off spent flowers after blooming to encourage a longer bloom and better vigour.
