Planting and care

Plant in full sun in well-drained soil, preferably slightly acidic. The shrub will tolerate poor, rocky ground. Dig a planting hole as deep as the root ball, without over-amending the soil. Mulch lightly around the base to hold in moisture at the start.

During the first season, water moderately every two weeks during long dry spells. Once established (after 1 to 2 years), this shrub is very drought tolerant and needs little care. Prune lightly in spring to keep the shape if desired; the shrub also handles harder pruning well.
