Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring in well-drained soil, ideally in full sun for the best foliage colour. Dig a hole slightly wider than the root ball, set the plant at the same level and backfill with a mix of soil and light organic matter.

Water regularly during the first growing season, then moderately once established, since this barberry tolerates drought well. No pruning is required; if needed, prune lightly after flowering to keep the compact shape. Avoid excess moisture in winter to prevent root rot.
