Planting and care

Plant in rich, humus-rich, well-drained soil, in part shade protected from drying winds. The Godzilla painted fern likes indirect light and a cool setting. Allow 60 cm of spacing at planting so the foliage can develop fully.

Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during the first year of establishment. In dry areas, mulch with dead leaves or organic matter in the fall. This fern needs no regular pruning; simply clean up dead or damaged fronds in spring, before growth resumes.
