Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil, even if it is poor or sandy. Aronia tolerates a wide range of pH and moisture. Dig a hole as deep as the root ball. Firm lightly and mulch after planting.

Water regularly for the first two years of growth to make sure the roots establish. Once well rooted, the shrub is very drought tolerant and needs little care. No pruning is required; only remove dead or crossing branches to keep a compact shape.
