Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil, in full sun, spacing plants 40 cm apart. Amend the soil with well-rotted compost. Water generously at planting and for the first few weeks to make sure the roots take well.

Once established, the plant tolerates drought well. Water moderately, especially during long dry spells. Remove spent flowers regularly to extend the bloom. A light mulch helps hold in soil moisture and protects the roots in winter.
