Planting and care

Plant in well-drained soil, in full sun. Yarrow dislikes excess moisture in winter; improve drainage with sand or gravel if the soil is heavy. Space plants 45 cm apart. No fertilizer is needed in average soil.

Water moderately at planting and for the first two weeks to make sure it takes. Once established, this perennial tolerates drought well and only needs occasional watering during long summer dry spells. Cut back spent stems to extend the bloom, or leave the dried flowers for fall interest.
