Planting and care

Plant yarrow in full sun, in well-drained soil that is poor to moderately fertile. Avoid soils that are too rich or too moist, which encourage soft growth and reduce flowering. Space plants about 45 cm apart.

Water moderately at planting to make sure it establishes well. Once established, yarrow tolerates drought well, so cut back on watering. Remove spent flowers to extend the bloom. Divide the clumps every 3–4 years in spring to rejuvenate the plant and keep it vigorous.
