Planting and care

Plant in fall or spring, in a sunny spot so the foliage develops its best purple colour. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, enrich the soil with organic matter and firm well. Mulch the base to keep it cool.

Water regularly for the first two years, especially during summer drought. Norway maple tolerates urban soils and pollution well; little care is needed afterwards apart from a light winter pruning to shape the structure. Avoid pruning in spring (risk of sap bleeding).
