Planting and care

Plant the Amur maple in fall or spring in a sunny spot. Dig a hole as deep as the root ball and three times as wide. Loosen the soil well and enrich it with organic matter if needed. Set the tree in place without burying the root collar. Backfill and firm well.

Water generously at planting and during the first year of growth, especially in dry spells. Once established, the Amur maple tolerates drought well. No pruning is needed; let its natural shape develop. Little care is needed once established.
